Martingale Roulette Strategy

Many roulette players choose to use some sort of betting system in order to either improve their odds or keep better control of their bankrolls. The basic Martingale roulette system is one of these strategies, and it is arguably one of the most popular.

How the Martingale System Works

The Martingale system is a negative progression system, meaning players will increase the amount of their wagers after each loss. The heart of the system lies at the amount of the initial bet the player makes. This bet must be low enough to allow for several doubles without exceeding the table maximum, but it must also be high enough to surpass the table minimum. For example, if a player chooses $5.00 as their standard betting unit, this player will double his bet to $10.00 after the first loss, $20.00 after the second loss, and $40.00 after the third loss. If the player wins, he will return to the original bet amount of $5.00.

Using the Basic Martingale Roulette System

The risks of using the Martingale system may outweigh the benefits for some players. Since the bet amount is doubled after losses, players can very quickly exceed table limits. Some players choose to employ a max bet at the table's limit, but even then they may be waiting a while before they score a win. If a player hits a losing streak, it is quite possible that they may lose their entire bankroll before striking the first win--and even then, the amount won is usually very little when compared with the total amount lost.

Roulette is one of the most popular casino games of all time, and although it is a fun and exciting game to play, the purpose of any casino game is winning. The basic Martingale roulette system is just one method players may use to control their wins and losses.
